Tips provided by SMART Communications Inc.:
1. Fully charge cellphone batteries and ensure that they have airtime for at least 3 days.
2. In the event of power outages, conserve battery power by avoiding unnecessary voice calls. Use text messaging instead, since this uses less power.
3. Store emergency numbers like: family members who can help, TV and radio stations that provide storm information, relief agencies like the National Disaster Coordinating Council, local government units, police, and the Philippine Red Cross. Keep a hard copy of these emergency numbers in case you run out of battery and have an alternative means of contacting them.
4. Keep a battery-operated radio and spare batteries handy to keep updated on news like evacuation warnings, storm updates, rescue developments, or in case electric and communication facilities shut down.
5. Keep your cellphone dry. Wrap it in plastic or use cling-wrap for easy use.
6. Pack your charger so you can easily re-charge your cellular phone battery once power is restored or made available at charging statons or SMART Libreng Tawag Centers.

That was so ryt! A lesson learned for all of us. Lagi mag charge lalo na aq.
