Maligno is an upcoming ABS-CBN sineserye adapted from the movie of the same title originally starred by Susan Roces (for which she won a FAMAS best actress trophy) in 1977.
It’s the second installment of Sineserye Presents: The Susan Roces Cinema Collection. It will premiere on January 28 in Primetime Bida. The cast includes Claudine Barretto as Angela Cortez, Diether Ocampo, Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Rafael Rosell, Arlene Tolibas, Deejay Durano, Empoy, Steven Fermo, and Gee-Ann Abrahan.
Dyesebel is GMA Network’s upcoming Philippine drama based on another Mars Ravelo creation.

Masayang-masaya ang young actress si Marian Rivera dahil nakakuha ng 44.9 percent rating ang pilot episode ng bago niyang fantaserye sa GMA-7 na Dyesebel noong Lunes, April 28, kahit na nagkaroon ng unscheduled power interruption sa ilang bahagi ng Metro Manila.
“I felt was more than I expected pala. Hindi ko akalain na gano’n karami ang manonood. Kahit nag-brownout pa sa ibang lugar, mataas pa rin ang ratings na nakuha namin.
“Sana ay patuloy pa nilang tutukan ang Dyesebel dahil marami pa kaming maipapakitang mga eksena na ikatutuwa nilang lahat. Kung nagandahan sila sa kabuuan ng Marimar, mas magugustuhan nila itong Dyesebel dahil maraming sorpresa na para sa mga sumusuporta sa amin ni Dingdong [Dantes],” masayang pahayag ni Marian sa launching nila ni Piolo Pascual bilang celebrity endorsers ng Blue Water Day Spa na ginanap sa Crowne Plaza kagabi, April 30.
Sabi ng host ng naturang launch ay sina Marian at Piolo ang “hottest and number one leading actor and actress sa showbiz” ngayon kaya naman karapat-dapat silang kunin na endorsers.
Matagal na raw kakilala ni Marian si Piolo dahil kay Direk Joyce Bernal, na direktor ng young actress sa Dyesebel at Marimar. Noong asalto nga ng birthday ni Marian last year ay tinawagan ni Direk Joyce si Piolo para batiin si Marian. Iyon ang unang pagkakataon na nagkakilala sila ni Piolo.
“Piolo is very nice at nakakatawa rin pala siya. Akala mo serious na tao, pero kalog siya na tulad ko rin. Kung hindi dahil kay Direk Joyce, hindi kami magiging pamilyar sa isa’t isa. Happy ako na kami ang kinuha na mag-endorse dahil kahit short time lang ay nakapag-bonding kami,” lahad ni Marian.
Kung ang basehan ng pagiging sikat na leading lady ay ang maipares kay Piolo, narating na nga ni Marian ang estado na iyon. At dahil nagrereyna na si Marian sa primetime, may balitang dalawa raw sa mga ini-endorse ni Angel Locsin noon ay kay Marian na napunta.
Pero tumangging magbigay ng komento ang kampo ni Marian tungkol dito. Abangan na lang daw kung ano ang mga produktong ito na unang na-identify kay Angel, pero na kay Marian na ngayon.

Sa gma, parang laging tanung, “bakit di cut ng director tong scene na to? ampangit ng acting eh” /ridicule. i must say, you kapuso nid to see what ABS-CBN is about. the word “kapuso” is even imitated from “kapamilya”. by which sop is also derived from ASAP. My Girl is the first koreanovela being adapted here in the Philippines. and the original Hana Kimi is taiwan version. dyesebel has poor acting/scenematography/direction as compared to Marina–in which mermaids and mermans really swim (in dyesebel, they disappear and reappear and/or “walk”. most people say that they tune in to gma because “malabo ang Channel 2″–which is another way to say “pinagtsatyagaan lang namin panuorin yan” i don’t know why gma has pinoy idol, by which Philippine Idol is the first franchise of the American Idol. and Mau even represented the Philippines in the Asian Idol. and what are the qualifications of jolina being a member of the jury. most the talents of gma came from Star Circle–marvin, dennis, angelika, jolina, etc. Filipinos are being deceived by what gma tell people. ang katapat ng dyesebel ay kapitan boom, and kapitan boom is even more “fantastic”. I find it amusing how those loyal to both stations can constantly put down the other. Objectively, there must be something good in both if they can gather such loyal subjects. However, as I have watched both stations (ABSCBN being the one I’ve watched more), I think ABSCBN just pretty much gathers whatever talents that have that sudden surge of popularity, squeeze out whatever profit they can make, then toss them out to oblivion faster than you can say, “(Popular Actor/Actress/Singer here) who?” I haven’t had much experience with GMA TV but I can say they have quality primetime programs though some shows leave me bored (seeing as I have no idea who some of their talents are). Thumbs up to ABSCBN’s subsidiary of Studio 23 though. Over there, I find shows more to my taste.
Ironically, even if I’ve watched ABSCBN more (because Parental control over television>Freeloading child control), I think their shows leave my brain rotting and grey matter floating away. I can really see how they just use their “disposable” talents (Veterans aside, because they were the “pioneers” in the industry.). GMA, on the other hand, nurtures their talents, and know how to pick those with potential from the flock.
Of course, we should keep in mind that this IS show business. The stations are just bowing out to the masses’ desire because they pretty much control half of the stations’ profit. And if the masses want shows that don’t exactly provoke the deepest thoughts, have stories that were non-too-subtly ripped from hit shows abroad, and make you feel like all your years of schooling go to waste, who are they to deny them that?
