'Tayong Dalawa' receives praises from AFP

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) bestowed an award to “Tayong Dalawa” stars Jake Cuenca and Gerald Anderson for their “excellent” portrayal of soldiers and promoting AFP’s good image in the hit series.
Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Alexander B. Yano spearheaded the awarding on Thursday at the Chief of Staff Quarters of Camp Aguinaldo.
A plaque of appreciation was given to the primetime program and to the two actors together with co-star Kim Chiu for uplifting the image of the Philippine Army, through Cuenca’s character, and the Philippine Air Force, through Anderson’s role.
In a report from “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon”, Cuenca and Anderson expressed their elation and gratitude for receiving the award.
“Sobrang overwhelming. ‘Di naman naming sukat akalain na talagang bibigyan kami ng award ng Army for what we do but at the end of the day, from the beginning talagang we wanted to make a good example. We took the responsibility of representing the Philippine Army,” Cuenca said.
“Sobrang overwhelming lang mabigyan ng award. Like, it’s a big thing,” Cuenca added.
“We’re just very happy, very overwhelmed with what’s happening to us. We’re just happy na ‘yong show namin “Tayong Dalawa” is a good influence to the people,” Anderson said.
“Masaya kami sa outcome ng show not just because of our ratings but also because the military recruits went up dahil po sa show namin,” Anderson added.
Reports said that PMA recruitments are up by 300 percent due to the show’s implicit promotion of the Philippine military’s respectable image.
“After receiving this plaque, talagang feel na feel namin na para kaming mga totoong sundalo talaga and it’s from the Chief of Staff, the highest-ranking [member of the AFP],” Anderson said.
The primetime hotties also donated their winnings from the game show “Deal or No Deal”, where they guested in February, to the cancer patients of the AFP Medical Center in V. Luna Avenue, Quezon City.
